Last week’s Berkeley city council meeting was yet another Cassandra Moment for me.You remember Cassandra , don’t you?She was the gal in ancient Greek mythology who was stuck with the role of always predicting the worst and having no one believe her until it was too late.

How come I never see a halfback in (american) football throw the ball out of bounds?
In American football, if the runner is behind the line of scrimmage, he can still throw the ball. Too many times have I seen a running play where the halfback has absolutely no chance to get past the line of scrimmage, so why don’t they throw the ball out of bounds? Is there a rule outlawing this? Thanks.
Well a foward pass would be illegal but couldn’t they throw it behind them and still out of bounds?

How come some college players succeed in the NBA while others fail?
I do not understand why players like JJ Reddick and Adam Morrison were not as successful in the NBA Rookie as others, like Deron Williams. Is it because they do not simply adjust to the game, or is it because of the teams on it? I mean, I do have a feeling Tyler Hansborough is not in the future, the transition from college on, while NBA players like OJ Mayo, happen succeed Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose probably on.The seems to have in the past, how many of the college record holders are completely unknown in the NBA.
