What Do You Think Of A “breakfast” Dinner Party?
For my birthday this year we are planning a party with all our friends. We have a lot of dinner parties and I wanted to try something differnet. What do you think of a “breakfast” dinner party? I was thinking pancakes, waffles, eggs, etc. Any ideas? What do you think? There will be lots of drinking.

Oct 09, 09 at 1:49 amGreat idea! Depending on how involved to want to go you could do an omelet bar or crepes with various fillings. The crepes you can buy premade so you’re not killing yourself. They could be filled with bananas and chocolate, etc. You can do the mini waffles and pancakes for something different. There are also some delicious breakfast casseroles too. I would make mimosas and bloody Mary’s. I would love it and I’m sure your friends will too. Good luck!

Oct 09, 09 at 1:04 pmIf there will be lots of drinking, I would go with a more substantive menu that will absorb some alcohol. Also, remember that while many people would never dream of having pizza for breakfast, there are others who would be just as turned off by waffles and pancakes for dinner.

Oct 09, 09 at 4:52 pmWhy not make a BREAKFAST PIZZA? It’s one of my FAVORITE dishes!
1 lb. pork breakfast sausage
8 oz. pkg. refrigerator crescent rolls
1 c. thawed hash brown potatoes, cubes or shredded
1/4 c. chopped onions
1/4 c. chopped green peppers
1/2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
5 eggs
1/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Brown sausage and drain. Separate rolls into 8 triangles. Place on ungreased 12 inch pizza pan (a deep pan is recommended) with points toward center. Press over bottom and up sides to form crust. Sprinkle with potatoes, sausage, onion, & green pepper. Top with cheese.
In bowl, beat eggs, milk, salt & pepper. Pour over pizza mixture. bake in 375 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
This is perfect party fare. You can edit this recipe to taste, of course. Use all one kind of cheese, or don’t add onion or green pepper, etc. The crescent rolls make a perfect pizza crust for an eggy pizza.
You can also prepare a really nice quiche, like a Quiche Lorraine perhaps, and serve it with fresh fruit. Another favorite of mine. Grapes and cantalope both go great with quiche.
Here’s a quiche lorraine recipe:
Ingredients:
1 unbaked 9-inch crust pie
8 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (4 ounces)
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
4 large eggs
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Heat oven to 425 degrees. In bottom of one crust pastry shell sprinkle bacon, cheese and onion. Beat eggs slightly; beat in remaining ingredients. Pour into quiche dish over bacon, cheese and onion.
Bake 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 300 degrees and bake about 30 minutes longer or until knife in center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
I think both these dishes would be perfect fare for a dinner party.

Oct 10, 09 at 1:51 amWe’ve had a breakfast for dinner party, complete with our guests wearing their pajamas. We did pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and OJ (since there were kids there). Us grownups got spiked coffee. It was a blast.
As far as a breakfast casserole goes, I would check allrecipes.com for a yummy one. Have fun!

Oct 10, 09 at 2:57 pmIt’s actually a really cool idea. When I worked in the dental field there was a large oral surgery practice nearby (3-4 doctors and over a dozen other employees), that had a yearly Holiday Omelette Party and it was a blast! They would empty the entire office, bring in a catering service that served nothing but breakfast foods and they dedicated 2 of those rooms to omelettes. Anything you wanted in your omelette, you got it! They made it all fresh to order and we all loved it. They had another room dedicated entirely to wine, beer and mixed drinks. It was a great twist on the usual mundane holiday party.
Have fun!
